Volunteering
It is a condition of membership that members volunteer to help run competition days.
Volunteers are vital to keeping our club functioning. At each competition, we need pencillers, canteen attendants, scorers and at Official days, gear checkers. Without these people, our competitions will simply NOT be able to run.
When you are entering a competition, you will be required to choose a job that you are willing to do. You will not have to volunteer at EVERY competition, but will need to fill a volunteer role at least 3 times during the year, or pay the $100 opt out fee.
If you have competition dates or specific jobs that you would prefer, please contact the Secretary prior to the competition. While we are giving members this opportunity to nominate their preferred roles, if we do not have enough volunteers to run the competition, we will be nominating riders from the draw to fill the positions.
These positions are usually then split into multiple shifts, with consideration taken not to impede on riders warm up and test times.
If you are concerned about fitting in volunteering around your riding on the day, we suggest you find a representative to volunteer and perform the role on your behalf. Alternatively, if there is any month that you are not competing, you may wish to attend and volunteer. If for instance you were to volunteer for the entire day, that would count as multiple volunteering efforts. Once again, feel free to touch base with the Secretary!
You have the option to pay an opt-out fee of $100.00 when you pay your membership fees, and will not have to choose a job when entering competitions. However, if you do not pay the fee, and then fail to complete your rostered volunteer duties, this will attract a ‘Failure to Support’ Fee of $100.00. Future entries and membership may be refused while this fee is outstanding.
