Eventing NSW CONDITIONS OF ENTRY updated 2019

Substitutions

1.Athletes and owners of all horses competing at EvA95 & above must be competitor members of Equestrian Australia (EA) and must be entered with their EA membership name and EA number. Athletes competing in EvA80, EvNSW60 & EVNW45 classes must be participant or competitor members of EA, and include their EA number on entries. Clubs may allow host Club membership for EvA80 and below. Note: Host Club Membership does not provide the Rider with personal insurance.

2.Horses competing at EvA95 or above must be registered with EA before being entered for any event and have a current EA Eventing Competition Licence. They must be entered in their registered names with their EA number (except EvA80, EvNSW60 & EvNSW45 classes).

3.Minimum Age of Horses:

a)EvA95 & below: In the calendar year in which they reach the age of 4.

b)Nat 1*: In the calendar year in which they reach the age of 5.

c)FEI 1*, 2* & 3* In the calendar year in which they reach the age of 6.

d)4* In the calendar year in which they reach the age of 7.

e)5* In the calendar year in which they reach the age of 8.

4. Age of athletes:

a)4 star-: Open to any athlete in the year of their 18th birthday and over.

b)3 star –Open to any athlete in the year of their 18th birthday and over. And Athletes from the beginning of the year of turning 16 may compete with express permission of the National Federation.

c)2 star- Open to any athlete in the year of their 18th birthday and over. And Athletes from the beginning of the year of turning 14 may compete with express permission of the National Federation.

d)CCN/CCI1*: Open to any athlete in the year of their 13th birthday and over.

e)EvA95: Open to any athlete in the year of their 8th birthday and over. Riders under the age of 13 must have previously competed at EvA80

f)EvA80: Open to any athlete in the year of their 8th birthday and over.

g)Athletes in EvNSW60 or EvNSW45 classes not in the year of their 8th birthday must supply written proof of competency by a NCAS level 1 or higher Coach or have current signed PC ODE card, with at least one signed performance for D grade (EvNSW60) or E grade (EvNSW45).

h)Junior & Young Rider classes: Organising committees may conduct classes for Junior or Young Riders at 1* or 2* level. Junior classes may also be conducted at EvA95 and EvA80 level.

i)Athletes wishing to be included in junior classes or recognised as juniors in open classes, must include DOB when entering.

5.Except, where Sports Rules allow otherwise, riders competing in EA competition must always wear an approved helmet with the chin strap fastened.

6.Athletes and owners of competing horses and their helpers must, under penalty of elimination, obey any order or direction given to them by any responsible official. They must not do anything liable to upset or hinder the undisturbed progress of the competition.

7.Athletes must adhere to the order of starting drawn up by the organisers for every phase, under penalty of elimination.

MEDICAL & CONCUSSION

  • All riders who fall must report to the Event Medical Officer. A report (even for falls with no injury) must be recorded.
  • Riders consent to the reports being forwarded to EvNSW. Reports will be confidential and information will only be used for fall and injury statistics.
  • Event suspensions – If an event Doctor considers a competitor should be medically suspended they may impose a suspension for an unspecified time.
  • Concussion. A mandatory suspension of 21 days. If there is any doubt the competitor can be re-examined after 2 hours and if concussed the mandatory suspension will be imposed.
  • Doctors / Paramedics must advise EvNSW of any concussions.
  • Riders can have mandatory suspensions reduced or removed by providing written confirmation from a Medical Practitioner that they are completely symptom free.

ENTRIES

1.Entries to One Day Events are accepted on the understanding that athletes and owners will abide by the EA & FEI General Regulations and the latest published National Eventing Rules and any amendments.

2.Entries to One Day Events are accepted on the understanding that athletes and owners accept the EvNSW refund policy published at www.nominate.com.au

3.All NSW entries, including late entries, must be received by an Eventing NSW approved electronic entry service.

4.There is no definite right to a late entry.

5.Entries after close of entries, if the Organising Committee approves, attract a minimum $50 fee per horse and must be paid via an Eventing NSW approved electronic entry service.

6.An athlete with more than one horse in a class may state on the entry form the order in which he/she wishes to ride (National classes only) or must abide by the order of the draw.

7.No horse may be substituted after the close of entries, unless the organisers agree and fees may apply.

8.Riding down (Nat events) one level from a higher level for which a horse is qualified, carries no penalty. Riding down two or more levels will incur 10 penalties - added to the total of faults.

9.Withdrawals prior to the first close of entries will be refunded with no more than 10% deducted as an administration fee.

10.There will be no refund of entries for withdrawals after the close of entries.

11.Withdrawals must be made by 4.00 pm on the day preceding the event or as stated in the schedule. Athletes who do not declare their intention to withdraw are liable to a penalty at the discretion of EvNSW.

12.It is the responsibility of all athletes paying Host Club membership to complete the EA Non-Member waiver at the time of entry. Athletes under the age of 18 must obtain the approval of a parent or guardian.

13.Each entry includes a $14 (gst inclusive) horse levy payable to Eventing NSW.

14.Athletes who are not current members of Eventing NSW will be subject to an additional levy of $15 (gst inclusive) per horse.

15.Athletes and owners are responsible for checking the published schedule for gst status of Eventing Clubs.

THE COMPETITION

1.All events will be run in accordance with the latest published National Rules for Eventing and any amendments.

2.Neither the Organising Committee, EA, the NSW Eventing Council, the Club or the owner(s) of the property accepts any liability whatsoever for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, athletes, ground spectators or any other person or property.

3.The Organising Committee reserves the right to:

a)Cancel any class or event

b)Divide any class

c)Transfer athletes between sections of a class

d)Alter the advertised times

e)Refuse any entry, with or without stating a reason

f) Reduce the scale of prizes and/or prize money where insufficient entries are received.

g) Charge an administration fee for cancelled events

4.Standard back number holders shall be used. These are available from the Ev NSW Secretary and at some events and saddleries. Athletes must use back numbers issued by the event organizers in their holders.

5.All horses must be numbered with either a bridle number or saddle cloth number at all times when not stabled or yarded.

6.Stallions must be identified at all times with EA appropriate green disks.

7.Athletes with any medical condition must wear a medical arm band, visible at all times, containing correct up-to-date information, in the cross country phase of every Eventing NSW competition or wear a medical data carrier.

8.It is the athlete's responsibility to compete only on horses that are free from the influence of drugs. FEI, EA or EvNSW may conduct a drug testing program on both athletes and horses at any event. This shall be carried out under the supervision of the FEI/EA Medication Control Program. Any horse competing may be asked to present to an official veterinarian and / or EA swabbing steward for testing. If drugs are detected from the testing, penalties will apply. Athletes are subject to ASDA doping regulations and may be tested at any time.

9.Queries must be made in writing on the official form available from the Event Secretary.

10.Objections will only be accepted from the owner, his authorised agent or the athlete of the horse involved and must be on the prescribed form. Objections must be accompanied by a deposit of a minimum $50 or an amount prescribed by the FEI. This will be refunded if the objection is upheld or if the EA Technical Delegate and Appeals Committee determine there were good and reasonable grounds for the objection.

11.Objections must be made no later than half an hour after the happening which gave rise to it or of marks in dispute being displayed / posted.

  • Before the start of the phase in question where qualifications of athletes is involved.
  • No later than four hours before the advertised starting time of the phase in the case of the Cross Country course.

12.Results cannot be queried after posting of final results.

13.The Riders Representative shall be responsible for liaison with the TD. Official’s and Riders Representative contacts must be available in the program or on the notice board.
