IMPORTANT TEAM INFORMATION FOR ALL

There has been much discussion around the borrowed rider rules and composite team make up, so we think it's important for everyone to have the same information, so we have decided to make things hopefully a little clearer for you all.

Team Options

Option 1 - Standard Team, Rule 6.2

A Full team

of 6 riders, 2 in each class, or a team of 4 or 5 riders with at least 1 rider in each class

Option 2 - Borrowed Rider Team Rule 6.3.2

In the further event that only three qualified  riders can be fielded, a  TEAM  may,  with the consent of the District Commissioners of the Club/s, borrow  ONE  rider from  another  BRANCH  or  CLUB  , (1998), provided that the  rider is not required for a team  from their own Branch/Club and is from such a  CLASS  as is necessary to make up a  team of four riders.  . (6.3.3  Branches may also borrow one rider to make  a team of five riders, where that rider  is in a different age class from the other four riders).

Option 3 - Two Age group 4 rider teams Rule 6.3.5

A Branch or Club Without Branches (CWB) that can’t field a team that complies with current Springston  Trophy Rule 6, in particular 6.3 & 6.3.1 be allowed to enter a team, comprising of  Four riders made up of 2 riders from any two of the three Springston Trophy  Classes.  That is, for example the team could consist of 2 juniors and 2 intermediates or 2  juniors 2 seniors or 2 intermediates 2 seniors.

Option 4 - Composite Teams Rule 6.3.4

2. Definition

2.1  A Composite Team is one composed of riders  from two or more Branches of the same Club. Where even this is not sufficient, riders from different Clubs may make up the Composite team. It is the intent that Composite teams should be  made up of Branches of the same Club or Branches/Clubs from the same Area  first.

3.5  The name used for every composite team  must  include up to three of the  Majority club/branch names and include composite. This is subject to the host  committee's approval (to distinguish it from a conventional Branch Team.)

Hopefully this is all making a bit more sense for you all.  Now comes some rules around the rider register

Rider Register

  • To register any riders that have not been able to be placed in your Branch teams, please ensure the Branch/CWB Head Coach registers these riders

  • A reminder ALL riders being registered must have a minimum of 2 live Eventing competitions at the height they are being registered for

  • The rider register will initially only be available to teams that are either: are not a viable team or are a two age group 4 rider team.  Any team meeting this criteria is entitled to borrow one rider from the register.

  • Once all teams are viable, if we have riders left over we will then open the register up to all teams with spaces to fill.

Age of Riders

The age of all riders is 1st August 2023.

Back Numbers

Rider Back Numbers will be emailed to all teams to print once the team draw is complete.

ID Tags

Horse ID tags are compulsory, you must have one on your horses halter/cover and one for your saddle.  We will confirm if they will be supplied by the OC by the end of August.

Accommodation Update from Catherine

Human accommodation.

Please get in quick. It is Cromwell’s half marathon weekend, and things are getting booked out quickly. Check the previous newsletters for accommodation info firstly or any more info contact Marg Hay info@centralparkapartments.co.nz

Horse Accommodation

As we have a few teams nominated at this stage, we may need to outsource some horse accommodation. We have had some kind offers of horse accommodation from the Clyde area. I thought this may be suitable for people travelling from the Dunedin area. This may mean that accommodation options may suit better in this area.

I have had 5 or 6 teams requesting to stay at the racecourse to date ( I have your emails at the top of my list). Can all teams please get in touch with me regarding the need for horse accommodation, or if you have sourced it yourselves , also if you require overnight accommodation in your floats/trucks at the racecourse.

If we are not able to accommodate everyone, or you prefer to stay off site, I have a list of horse accommodation within a 30 min drive of Cromwell.

Powered Sites

Apologies there will be no powered sites available to people staying for this event, as we will be parked in different areas. We will be getting in port-a-loos for this area. There are limited showering facilities in the main building and other toilets to use.

Stables

The stables are really only suitable for storage of horse food and maybe tack storage if required.

Training Arena

There is an onsite arena that will be available to hire at $5 per horse directly to Cromwell Pony Club. Bookings can be made closer to the time.

Accommodation Enquiries and Communication

If you can please let me know your intentions contact Catherine rmwallis@xtra.co.nz , or I  will be in touch with you individually.

Payments for Yards/Accommodation

Yarding and accommodation charges will be done direct to each Team, once we have confirmed where you are staying and your costs.

NO DOGS ALLOWED, please ensure your fur babies are left at home and please ensure all of your support team and family do not bring any dogs.  This is a working sheep farm.
