Q.  What do I need to ride at the track?

A.  The first step is becoming a member of a club.  Once you've done this then you need to decide what sort of riding you want to do, racing or just practice (recreational), to work out the type of license you need.  Licenses can be purchased annually or you can buy a day license just for the days you want to ride.  More information, including all the necessary forms, can be found in our News section under Forms.  There's also a lot of information on the Motorcycling Australia and Motorcycing Queensland websites - you'll find most of the useful information from these sites in our Links section.

Q.  Where is the track?

A.  We are located at Thompson Road, Edmonton, just behind the Speedway - go past the speedway entrance and then turn right as soon as you get to the car park for the boat ramp, and follow the dirt road to the track.

Q.  When is the track open to ride?

A.  We hold regular practice days that are open to club members with a license (day licenses can be purchased at these events), and there is usually a race day at one of the many tracks around FNQ each weekend.  See the Social Calendar for an up to date calendar.

Q.  What sort of bike can I ride at the track?

A.  Any bike that is officially approved by Motorcycling Australia, and passes a safety scrutineering, can be ridden on the track.  Note this includes quad bikes, but excludes most pit bikes as these have not been passed through the official Motorcycling Australia scrutineering process. There are also engine capacity restrictions that apply to junior (under 15) riders.

Q.  What do I need to wear to ride on the track?

A.  Although we recommend full safety gear, any protective clothing that covers your whole body, boots that protect the ankle, an Australian Standards approved helmet (that also has to pass a visual inspection) and goggles are the minimum requirement.

Q.  When am I allowed to ride at the track - can I just come down at any time once I have my license?

A.  The short answer to this is no - as we are associated with Motorcycle Australia we are obliged to run a safe track for insurance purposes.  This means always having officials on hand while riders are on the track.

Q.  How can I find out more info?

A.  Get in touch with one of the contacts listed in our Contact section, we're all more than happy to help!  If you would like to be kept up to date by email, send us a Message, or join our Facebook Page as a fan.
