A Becks Nairn Equine Dissection Clinic being held on Tuesday 6^th and Wednesday 7^th August 2024 at our Shibumi Equestrian Centre in Bundanoon.

This workshop is directed towards anybody interested in understanding how a horse is muscularly put together….. Becks does her dissection in such a way that absolutely maintains the respect for the horse and limits how confronting this is for the participant.

Dissection is the ultimate way to understand anatomy, we will use the gift of the donor horse to show things for example - how the PSOAS minor/major work and why riding behind the vertical can cause damage to our horses’ bodies etc etc

Becks is one of New Zealand’s leading experts in dissection and the musculoskeletal system of the horse. Her passion has led her all over the world and she shares her exceptional knowledge and understanding of how the body works under the skin and her ability to share that is incredible. She gives her knowledge unconditionally freely throughout her clinic.

• Housekeeping
• Begin skinning 
• Dissecting
• Close 4:30

The fee of $550 includes a tea, coffee and a light lunch …. Please let me know if there are any dietary restrictions.

What can you expect from the dissections over two days ?

• You will be encouraged to have a safe and open learning environment where participants can feel safe to talk about ideas.
• The horse is entire when the dissections start, so participants can see the fascia under the skin and any adhesions present. We will go through all the organs looking for any problems they present: - ulcers, lacerations, scarring, worm burden etc.
• We will look at every joint possible including the misunderstood sacroiliac joint and will dissect eyeballs too.
• A group chat will be started two days before the dissection so everyone can let Becks know what they are interested to see.
• Becks also uses the group chat to post pictures and videos of relevance throughout the two days.
• She believes this is your experience and that she is just guiding you through the horse’s body.
• She will have her full set of equine bones with her that she uses throughout the two days plus a large collection of books.

Your spot in the clinic is not secured until we have received the completed booking form and a deposit has been received.

You will need to sign the Shibumi Equestrian Centre indemnity forms prior to starting the clinic.

We will supply stackable plastic chairs however you are welcome to bring yours if you would prefer.

In Bundanoon we are lucky to have lots of local accommodation only 2 – 4km from Shibumi – Bundanoon Hotel, Bundanoon Motel and lots of B ’n B’s etc …
