SWEQ Club Protocol Day Sunday 27th October 2024 with Amanda Hutt and Ally McLean

What is a  Protocol Day?

A protocol day is great way to get immediate feedback from a WEQ Judge on what they are looking for when judging a WEQ Competition.  Each rider is given an indivudal 30min session with a Dressage Judge and an individual  30min session with an Ease Of Handling (EOH) obstacle judge.

When you enter, you choose what Level (the Levels are listed below as classes) you wish to ride at, and  before the day learn the appropriate dressage test as best you can.  On the day you ride that dressage test in front of the Judge who will mark you as if you were riding at a competition. After you have ridden your test, the Judge will explain and give instruction on how you can improve on the test and you can ride it again.   The same will apply to the obstacle course. The current ANWEL Rule Book is attached to this page.

We have booked two wonderful ANWE judges:

Ally McLean - Ally will help you understand what you are doing correctly or incorrectly in a WEQ dressage test, or even how to ride a WEQ dressage test in a 20 x 40m dressage arena.

Amanda Hutt - will give you feedback on how to ride an Ease of  Handling (EOH) obstacle course correctly.

Format

Gates open at 8:00am and first session will be at 9am with the last session finishing at 3pm.  This means only 10 riders can enter the Protocol Day so get in quick.

Each rider will have an individual 30min dressage session with Ally McLean followed by an individual  30min EOH session with Amanda Hutt.  A draw with your riding times will be emailed on Friday 25th October.    On the day arrive so that you have plenty of time to warm up your horse before your designated dressage time.  At your draw time approach the judge and ride your dressage test / do the obstacle course.  Once you have compelted the dressage test / obstacle course the judge will give you  instructions on how you can  improve your test. After you have ridden collect your test sheet and you will be required to stay and pencil for the second rider after you on the draw.   Pencilling involves writing down the judge's marks and comments.  All test sheets and pens will be provided.  The last two riders are to stay back to help pack up as you won't be required to pencil.

Cost

SWEQ Members - $90 for both sessions (the Members $10 discount will apply when you enter)

NON SWEQ Members  - $100 for both sessions
