Memberships

Closed Restricted (CR) classes require HVDA membership. Members also get a $5 discount on every Official (OC) test. $30 for Single and $40 for Family membership for the year, and if you join now your membership will remain current through all of 2026. Join us here.

Official (OC) tests require rider EA membership and EA horse registration.

Competition Categories

You must select a category to compete in for each class you enter. You cannot compete as both a Pony and Junior with the same Pony on the same day - you must pick your preferred category and all entries on that day must be ridden under that category.

• Open - Competitors who do not qualify for any of the following categories.
• Pony - Ponies must not exceed 149cm with shoes (148cm without shoes).
• Junior - Riders 8 years old (on a pony) or 10 years old (on a horse) up to 18 years old.
• AOR - Adult riders who are non-professional i.e. they do not derive an income from activities in equestrian sport. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Prizes

We are proud to offer some fantastic prizes as part of our 2025 Championship event. The highest scoring entrants at each level and in each category will be awarded a special sash for Champion and Reserve. The highest scoring entrants at each level across all categories will be awarded a trophy horse rug for Champion and a helmet bag for Reserve, thanks to Aussie Saddlery.

Lois Howe Memorial Prix St Georges Challenge - Sponsored by Kelato Animal Health

Lois Howe was a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer at Hunter Valley Dressage Association for more than 30 years. She was instrumental in founding the club and served as president for a number of years, competing Prix St Georges at HVDA events at Maitland Showground in the 1980s.

In her memory, the highest scoring entrants at Prix St Georges level will be rewarded, in a mounted presentation, proudly sponsored by Kelato Animal Health;

• First place is awarded $500 prize money, a trophy horse rug and flower garland.
• Second place receives $200 prize money and sash.
• Third place earns $100 prize money and sash.
• Sashes are awarded to 6th place.

Tiny Tots Dressage

Riders under 8 years of age are welcome to come along and try the sport of  dressage! Ride a modified walk-trot test, either on or off lead (you decide), and everyone wins a special ribbon. Download the test here.

Para/Equibility/Virtus Test of Choice

Para, Equibility and Virtus riders have the option to ride up to 2 tests of their choice. Please indicate with your entry the test you wish to ride; EA or FEI, which grade and which test.

Remember to supply any Para or Exemption cards required to our Events Team via [email protected]. We will ensure these resources are available for our judges.
