SKILL AT ARMS CLINIC WITH LIBERTY DEAMAN

About the training
This is an introduction clinic and assumes that you and your horse have never attempted skill at arms or any other type of mounted combat or melee, although participants with sporting and mounted games experience will find some similarities.
Riders will be instructed in the safe use of several different weapons from horseback, including swords, lances and spears, and will focus on honing in their accuracy, speed and balance against a number of challenging obstacles.

About Liberty
Liberty Deaman is currently one of Australia’s beloved medieval riders, appearing at some of the largest events in the country, including the Abbey Medieval Festival, Keith Ryal Memorial Tournament, Blacktown Medieval Faire and the Victorian Medieval Faire. She is also currently the highest ranked Australian horse archer (88th in the world) and was the highest scoring Australian rider at the 2023 World Championships, held in Mongolia. She is currently the Australian Representative on the International Horse Archery Alliance and has been active in the Australian Horse Archery Association (as a general member and committee member) for the past 5 years. Liberty and her husband Rodney founded Riding With Sticks in late 2023 and have had great local success with bringing horse archery and ridden skill at arms to the local and surrounding regions.

Equipment requirements
All equipment is provided by Liberty including swords, spears, lances. Riders can ride in their regular tack but must have a monkey strap or similar for the front of the saddle. Bareback riding is not permitted at this event. All riders are required to always wear a suitable helmet to Australian / EA standards when handling horses and riding.

Camping and Catering
Camping is available at the showgrounds over the event weekend. Limited horse yards are available on site, and temporary horse yards can be established by attendees. Horses must not be left unattended for extended periods of time, and no responsibility is taken by the event organiser.
This is not a catered event, and all attendees are required to ensure they have their own food and water. Onsite water is potable. Tarago has very limited food options, however the local pub provides take away meals and seated dining for dinner if camping. Larger stores and other shopping options are available within 30-45 minutes from the venue.

Horse Hire
Limited places will be available for horse hire for this event. Please ensure the attached horse hire form is downloaded and returned no less than 48 hours prior to the event. Failure to do so may result in a cancellation of attendance. No guarantee is provided on horse hire.

These documents will download automatically to your computer on entry to the ticketing section of Nominate for this event. Please complete these forms (electronically or wet ink) and upload them in the third stage of the ticketing via Nominate. Alternatively, completed forms can be emailed to us directly at shoalhavenequinetransport@gmail.com
