INTRO TO ARCHERY WITH LIBERTY DEAMAN
About the training
This is an introduction clinic and assumes that you and your horse have never attempted horse archery, although participants with experience will gain a lot from the clinic.
Riders will be instructed in the archery techniques from the ground, including safe carrying of equipment while on horseback, loading of arrows, shooting, targeting and safe retrieval of arrows, introduction of archery equipment to their horses, and basic shooting from the saddle. There will also be discussions regarding competitions, technique equipment selection, further training, and clubs within Australia.
Riders are encouraged to attend both days for the best results, however many attendees enjoy some limited success when attending only a single day.
Tickets are also available for participants in the ground archery session only, and fence sitters.
About Liberty
Liberty Deaman is currently the highest ranked Australian horse archer (88th in the world) and was the highest scoring Australian rider at the 2023 World Championships, held in Mongolia. She is currently the Australian Representative on the International Horse Archery Alliance and has been active in the Australian Horse Archery Association (as a general member and committee member) for the past 5 years. Liberty and her husband Rodney founded Riding With Sticks in late 2023 and have had great local success with bringing horse archery and ridden skill at arms to the local and surrounding regions.
Equipment requirements
All archery equipment is provided by Liberty including bow, arrows, targets and arm protection. Riders can ride in their regular tack but must have a monkey strap or similar for the front of the saddle. Bareback riding is not permitted at this event. All riders are required to always wear a suitable helmet to Australian / EA standards when handling horses and riding.
Beginner archery kits will be available for purchase/order during the event. EFTPOS available.
Club Memberships and Ground Fees
All attendees must be members of the Berry Riding Club and will be prompted to join through the ticketing process. Please note - event membership is available (coverage for the dates of this clinic only) or annual membership (with coverage for all BRC membership events until the EOFY 2025). Please consider joining the club as they host a large number of wonderful events throughout the year, including working equitation, dressage, show jumping, cross country, sporting and games, novelty events and community fundraisers.
Please note - all attendees are required to pay a daily grounds fees (see classes for ticketing). This fee is payable per attendee for each day.
Camping, Catering and Ammenities
Camping is not permitted on the grounds, however camping, horse yards and stables are available at the Berry Showgrounds, approximately 10 minutes from the grounds. Please book camping through the Shoalhaven City Council website separately. https://berry.org.au/stay/berry-showground-campsite/
This is not a catered event, and all attendees are required to ensure they have their own food and water. Berry has a number of small cafes and eateries, as well as an IGA. Larger stores and other shopping options are available within 15-20 minutes from the venue at Bomaderry and Nowra, including all main fast food chains and supermarkets.
The grounds have all standard ammenities. Wash bays are available for horses. There are no yards on site, and attendees will need to supply their own horse yards if required.
Horse Hire
Limited places will be available for horse hire for this event. Please ensure the attached horse hire form is downloaded and returned no less than 48 hours prior to the event. Failure to do so may result in a cancellation of attendance. No guarantee is provided on horse hire.
