Bungendore Riding Club presents
For BRC members only
Trail riding weekend at Valhalla Cabin, Falls Creek NSW
15-17 March 2024 - (FRIDAY to SUNDAY)
This an opportunity to ride in the beautiful Jervis Bay region approximately 2 hours’ drive from Bungendore on the Tarago/Nerriga road. We will stay two nights at Valhalla Cabins on Falls Road, Falls Creek.
Accommodation
Valhalla has available a 2 bedroom self contained cabin. One room is a queen bed room (to be occupied by your fearless leader Helen Locke) and the other bedroom has 2 bunk beds (sleeps 4). For those not wanting to share a bedroom, there is plenty of space to camp either in your float or in a tent. Campers will have their own toilet block and access to the shower in the cabin. There is a stove, oven, microwave and fridge in the cabin. There is also a nice patio area with BBQ available as well as a firepit. Everyone will have access to the facilities (please keep items needing to be refrigerated to a minimum). Linen is provided for those sleeping in the cabin only.
Horse facilities
There is one well fenced (post and rail) paddock that can accommodate approximately 3 horses. The remaining horses will be accommodated in large yards with a carport type cover over part of the yard. The yards also have wooden post and rail fencing. Some of the wood is getting old so if your horse is not good with fencing it is advisable to bring an electric fence kit to put up inside the post and rail fencing.
The riding
Rides will be offered Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning. The rides will generally be about 2-2.5 hours in length. Boots or shoes for the horses are recommended. We will need to float to some of the rides so please ensure your horse floats well. Saturday’s ride will include riding on the beach. The other rides will be in the bush on fire trails and narrow bridleways which may include overhanging branches/ puddles etc. The rides will be at walking pace though there may be an opportunity to trot and canter on the beach in separate groups. On Saturday afternoon there will be the opportunity to swim at one of the beautiful beaches in the Jervis Bay area (bring your swimmers!!).
Meals
There is an excellent restaurant called The Stonegrill in Huskisson for dinner on the Friday night. There is a choice of “a la carte” or a 3 course menu (choices within each course) for $50. The restaurant is BYO. Saturday night will be a bbq with everyone to bring a salad to share. Please indicate if you wish to participate in these meal arrangements so a booking at the restaurant can be made.
More details regarding the location, timing and catering will be provided to those who register.
