Bungendore Western Riding Association Incorporated

Hello and welcome to our club!

About us:

We are a Western focused riding club based in Bywong, 10 minutes from Bungendore Showgrounds and offer a no-stress social environment for riders and horses to work towards their personal and competition goals.

The club was established in August 2023 with a focus on Ranch, this has since provided members from different disciplines to conduct cross-training, add variety to their competition regime or simply to have a fun time and catch up with like-minded riders and maybe learn some new tips along the way.

We have Reiners, Western Pleasure, Casual riders, Trail riders, English converts (some still on the fence), Camp drafters, Team Sorters, Endurance riders, Working Equitation riders, you name it, and we likely have members that participate in it. Because of this we are very inclusive and welcome everyone regardless of riding background, discipline and experience. We understand that everyone attends the club days because they are after something, and we aim to assist towards this as best we can.

While the Club has been focused on Ranch, we are working toward broadening this but remain stock and western oriented and are always open to recommendations. Past recommendations have resulted in organised cattle clinics off-site, practice show days and mechanical cow opportunities.

So, if you enjoy a wide variety of disciplines, or not sure where you fit in with the horse world, or you are considering trying something else, come along and see if this might be for you.

But if you're still unsure, reach out and pop in on a club day and come say G'day!

Tack and Attire:

While we are a western club, this doesn’t mean you have to have all the tack, or even a western saddle. Stock/ Fenders are also appropriate. English tack though not ideal for mechanical cow, is still welcomed. At the end of the day, if the tack is serviceable and sound, that’s all that matters. Bitless is also welcomed, but safety and control are paramount.

For riders, we only ask that you dress appropriately i.e. jeans/ jodhpurs, long sleeve shirt and a helmet if under 18. Helmets are not compulsory for adults; western hats are also appropriate but ballcaps are not when riding.

And lastly, please respect the choices of tack and attire of others. Each discipline has different rules for this. We do not however tolerate abuse of horse or rider of any kind and ask our members to bring it up with anyone on the committee if they observe something of concern.
