Join us at the Level 1 Heartland Clinic, the first of our 6 part series where our goal is to equip you with the foundational skills all the way through to level 6 with advanced techniques

This foundational clinic "mastering the basics" is just that! Perfect for all levels, this clinic will be all ground work based with an emphasis to begin the conversation between owner and horse. The language is called "ELF", equa lingua franca, a philosphy developed by Scott Brodie describing the principles of a common language between two species

This clinic focuses on halter and groundwork, mastering the basics, and how to start the conversation with your horse, ensuring you develop a strong foundation for future training

This clinic will be done all in the rope halter, your horse can be unbroken or highly educated, any breed or discipline, this is the foundation for communicating better with your horse, there is something in this for everyone

Learning Outcomes:

During the clinic, you will learn to gain and maintain your horse's attention using effective halter techniques. Understanding the importance of position and timing will allow you to communicate clearly and effectively with your horse. We'll also introduce a learning mentality, cultivating an environment that encourages your horse to learn and respond positively

The clinic will cover the concept and application of negative reinforcement, teaching YOU how to apply it in training and with your own horse

Future Levels:
By joining us for this clinic it will allow you to then join us for the following levels and continue on the journey of creating a common language

Level 1: Mastering the basics
Level 2: Classical In-Hand Work
Level 3: Transition from ground to ridden
Level 4: Introducing the laterals
Level 5: Advancement of "ELF"

Level 6: Elite Riding of "ELF"

What can I expect from the clinic?

  • Our day will start with a comprehensive lecture to lay the theoretical groundwork for the activities
  • You'll engage in hands-on practice with halter techniques and exercises to encourage your horse to work with you willingly
  • Techniques to teach your horse to respond to head pressure and join-up exercises to establish trust
  • Target work will enhance your horse’s focus and responsiveness, and you may have the opportunity to work with different horses to broaden your understanding and adaptability
  • Learning how to begin to introduce/re-introduce leg aids from the ground and how this links to classical in-hand work (the next level)
