SUMMER SHOWJUMPING SERIES
2025
The series will consist of three events to be held on the following dates:
February 15th, March 1st, and March 22nd.
9th Annual “Ellen Barclay Pursuit of Excellence Award" as chosen by BHPC Life Member Ellen Barclay.
Classes offered from 50cm to 100cm. Start Time 8AM.
Please be sure to be familiar with all information and rules regarding the event and series.
Please note classes will run with Optimum Time first, followed by Special Two Phase for each height.
Series Information
Nominate will open for early entries to BHPC Members on Saturday 18/1/2025 from 6pm, with an Event Password required. All other entries will be accepted from Sunday 19/1/2025 from 6pm onwards.
This event is open to Members of PCWA, Open PCWA and Bunbury H&PC.
Riders are required to choose which of the Membership Catergories they wish to compete under when entering, with a Series Winner from each Catergory to be awarded at the final event. Riders may also and additionally opt to enter as an Off The Track Combination, either TB or STB, for which there will also be Series Champions.
PCWA Jumping Rules Apply.
Riders who wish to compete at Interschools are welcome to submit their paperwork for signing.

Draw to be emailed via Nominate. Riders must compete in the order of the draw unless they have requested and been given permission by the committee to change their order.

Helper jobs are mandatory. Riders with two horses may receive two helper jobs. Events cannot be run without helpers, so please be on time for your job. Those who fail to complete their assigned job may be refused future entries and/or be removed from contention for the series at discretion of the committee.

Horses and Horse/ Rider combinations are permitted to compete in 2 classes per day.

Horse/Rider combinations may compete across 2 heights consecutive only. Entries received that do not comply with this will have their classes reallocated at the discretion of the organisers.

Riders must be current members of PCWA or Bunbury Horsemans. Annual Memberships to Bunbury Horsemans are available via Nominate Equestrian/Clubs/Join a Club.

Only Registered Off The Track Horses are eligible to compete in the OTT Catergory.

Combinations must compete in at least 2 of the three individual events to be eligible as a series winner.

COMBINATIONS MUST ALSO BE PRESENT AT THE FINAL EVENT.

Combinations may jump more than one round in any class, but they will only be eligible for points and placings in their first round. Riders who choose to jump H/C are not eligible to compete in any classes thereafter on that day.

Combinations may change the height at which they jump throughout the series, but they will only be eligible for points and placings if they jump at the same or a higher height from their initial entry.

Points are awarded to horse/rider combinations, in each Membership catergory, and the OTT catergory.

Changes to the draw after close of entries are at the discretion of the organising committee. It is the competitors responsibility to enter the correct age group/class. Age group class entries are determined by age of rider as of 1/1/2025.

Series winners and placegetters will be announced at the final event on March 22nd. You must be present to be eligible for your award.
- The series winners will be decided by the combination(s) accumulating the most points over the series as determined by the organising committee.
- Riders are required to wear Official Pony Club uniform, and will be subject to a PCWA Gear Check if competing as a PCWA Member. PCWA Open and BH&PC Members must comply with PCWA Open gear checking rules. Jackets/Pony Club Jumpers required, but may be removed at judge’s discretion, long sleeves as required under PCWA rules.

Organisers reserve the right to amend or join classes as required and have absolute discretion to change the program or reschedule the event for any reason.

Organisers reserve the right to determine and/or amend prizes (including rugs) for each and any class/section according to the amount of entries received, or for any other reason.

All protests or queries regarding scoring and/or series place getters, must be made to the organisers within 30 minutes of results being published.

Refund Policy - Event Fees

Where a scratching is received before event entries close, the Treasurer may approve a refund of fees, less 10% for handling and administration.
- For a refund to be approved, a request for refund must be received within 10 working days of the scratching.

Where a scratching is received after event entries close, and the event is confirmed to be in profit, the Treasurer and one other Executive Committee Members may authorise a refund, less 15% for handling and administration.

For a refund to be approved, the entrant must provide the Treasurer with the following evidence within 10 working days of the scratching:
(a) A medical certificate that the rider, an immediate dependent, or the adult
supporter in the entry is unable to attend,
OR
(b) A veterinary certificate that the horse is not able to compete on the day.
Where a scratching is made on or after the event commences, no refund is available.
If any conditions are not met, refunds will only be approved in exceptional circumstances as approved by the BH&PC Committee.
Class Definitions
Special Two Phase: (Article 274.2 - Competition in Two Phases)
- Conducted under Table A rules, not against the clock in the first phase, and against the clock in the second phase.
- It comprises two phases run without interruption, each at an identical or different speed, the finishing line for the first phase being identical with the starting line for the second phase.
- The first phase is a course of 5 to 7 obstacles with or without combinations.
- The second phase takes place over 4 to 6 obstacles, which may include one combination.
- Unless eliminated, athletes penalised in the first phase may continue into the second phase.
- The winner is according to the aggregate penalties in both phases (faults on obstacles and penalties for exceeding the time allowed in both phases) and, if necessary, according to the time of the second phase.
One Round Against Optimum Time: (Article 238.5.1)
- Athletes with equality of penalties are placed in accordance with the time closest either side to the Optimum Time. Athletes in this round who come in under or over the Optimum Time by more than 10 seconds will have 1 time penalty added to their score for every elapsed second over the 10 seconds.In the event of an equality of penalties and time either over or under closest to the Optimum Time, the combination who is under the Optimum Time will place ahead of the combination over the Optimum Time.
