MRWEQ Member's Training -

SUNDAY 5th July 2026

This is an opportunity for our MRWEQ club riders to train for upcoming competitions.

Conditions of Entry:

• You must have renewed your memberships and be a current (July 2026-2027) ANWEL and MRWEQ member to join this training day. 
• Helmets must be tagged & worn whilst riding.
• You must only enter the level you are competing in! 
• You will be expected to understand your competition level tests, obstacle requirements and the ANWEL rulebook as we will be following competition protocols.  Remember it is rider's responsibility to know the rulebook and tests.
• This training day we will be holding TWO DIFFERENT SESSION TIMES.  A morning group session and a separate afternoon session for new member's & intro riders.  
• We are expecting rain to be coming up. This training day is NOT at our home grounds, and we have hired a private undercover arena. Sealed float parking is limited (12 spots), and there is only one 70 x 30m arena.  You will be given an arrival and departure time that must be followed as the driveway does not allow floats to pass each other.
• Morning session: Arrive 7:45am and help set up.  Riding 9am -11am. Floats exit by 11:45am. 
• Afternoon session - Arrive from 12:00. Riding 1pm-3pm, help pack up & leave by 4pm.

This training day will be an opportunity to earn points towards the MRWEq end of year awards.

$80 per rider & horse combination ***Note training venue is a private undercover arena in Quorrobolong! (Not our home grounds).  There is only 1 arena available to ride / warm up.

MRWEQ Member's Training Day

Riders will be split up into training teams with similar horse/ rider combinations where possible, to train together and support each other at the levels they will be competing at in 2026, with a view to helping support each other to move up through the levels of working equitation with progressive training of both horse and rider. 

*It is rider's responsibility to know the updated rulebook (2026). This will be an ANWEL event using the ANWEL dressage tests & updated rule books.

• Level 1 - Introductory - walk / trot everything - the purpose in all phases is to introduce new riders / combinations to the working equitation competition. No canter allowed. No speed events. Can not do cattle/mechanical cow.
• Level 2 - Preparatory - mainly trot, starting to learn where to canter on course. This level has been introduced for horses who are ready to execute some canter on an Ease of handling course.
• Level 3 - Preliminary - ease of handling is ideally canter most of the course, progressive transitions up and down allowing trot through changes of lead.  Obstacle course is still able to be trotted but will be marked accordingly.
• Level 4 - Debutante W/F - introduces walk through changes of lead, counter canter and more lateral work (DW) and Flying changes (DF)

Montana’s Run Working Equitation Inc. (MRWEQ) has a dedicated training venue FOR OUR MRWEQ MEMBERS to further the training of horse and rider combinations. We will be focusing our training days on helping our member's, whose goal it is to be actively training for competitions in a fun, supportive and respectful team environment.  Riders will already need to have a good understanding of the WEQ rulebooks, as the training format will be similar to competitions. What's even better, as the club grounds are a dedicated WEQ venue, there will be minimal set-up and pack away for riders.  Our Members can turn up, saddle up, report for gear check and riders briefing and then ride! 

Home Grounds:          221 Sandy Creek Rd, Mount Vincent, NSW, 2323

The entrance gate for the property is 2.21km from Leggetts drive intersection on the left-hand side (M1 side of the road).  It is just a driveway & gates entrance on Sandy creek rd. There is a white sign on the side of the road with property name "Montana's Run". Follow the long driveway into property. Take the two bends slow and wide with floats/trucks.  When you go over the bridge, go up the hill past the large shed. Horse floats take the driveway to the left for float parking.  

Training day requirements 

1. Training days will only be open to riding members of MRWEQ inc. to meet our insurance guidelines. 
2. You will need to bring sufficient food, water & buckets for your horse. We are on tank water, with no access to town water facilities.  Please clean up manure. 
3. Helmets must be safety tagged and always fastened whilst riding.
4. No dogs are to be brought with you (there are plenty available on the property for cuddle therapy already).

Cost: $70/horse & rider combination with instructors and /or mentors.

The driveway does NOT allow floats to pass each other. So specific times will be allocated to arrive and leave. eg. All floats in prior to midday.  No floats leave prior to midday.  Members may stay whole day if they choose.  We strongly suggest the newer members and riders watch the other groups to help learn more and understand what is going on. Draw / group times will be sent a few days prior to event once we have a better understanding of the weather gods that week and what level riders have entered. Hooves crossed for gorgeous weather.
