MOSSMAN AND DISTRICT SHOW SOCIETY INC.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. This show is held under the Rules and Regulations of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies
and the Rules and By-Laws of the Mossman and District Show Society Inc.
2. Although the substance of some of the Rules of the Society are set out here under, for emphasis and
general direction, this Statement of Conditions shall not be deemed to be an exhaustive statement of the
Rules and By-Laws of the Society, all of which shall be in full force and application.
3. For particulars of Entry Fees, closing dates of entries, dates and times for delivery of exhibits and special
conditions relative to the particular Sections, see the head notes to the individual Sections appearing in the
schedules. Intending exhibitors are advised to read the Schedules carefully and to be sure to enter exhibits
in the correct Classes.
4. MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION FAMILY tickets of $45.00 carries the privilege of two adult tickets,
plus a ticket for each of the Member’s dependent children. Each ticket will admit the bearer to the Show
throughout the whole period thereof (both Sunday and Monday) as often as desired. Tickets must be
produced otherwise ordinary admission will be charged.
ADULT SINGLE tickets of $25.00 are available to adults over 18 years of age. CHILD SINGLE tickets
of $10.00 are available to all school aged children. Such tickets will entitle admission to the grounds as
above but no entitlement as Members of the Society.
PENSIONER (2) tickets are available for $25.00. PENSIONER SINGLE tickets are available for $15.00
Entrance to the grounds for NON – MEMBERSHIP TICKET HOLDERS will be charged at the DAILY
RATE: Adults: $20.00, Children: $8.00 (Children under school age are admitted free). Pensioners:
$10.00 (Pensioners must present evidence of entitlement).
5. The Committee shall have full control of all personnel on the grounds, & through its Stewards & other
Officials, the conduct & management of the Show.
6. Persons admitted or claiming to be admitted to the grounds shall be subject to the Regulations of the
Committee; & the Committee reserves the right by its Executive Officers, Stewards, or other Officials or
nominees to:
(a) Refuse to admit to the grounds or;
(b) Expel and remove from the grounds any person or persons whose conduct (past or present) is, in
the opinion of such Committee, Executive Officer’s, Stewards or other Officials or nominees,
such as to warrant such action.
7. Entries in the show must be made on the Entry Forms provided by the Society and must be in the hands of
the Secretary by the stipulated date thereof, together with the Entry Fees without which no Entry will be
accepted. Exceptions to this Rule will however, be made in such Sections (in particular the Horticulture,
Agriculture and Culinary Sections) where the Stewards thereof on their discretion permit, having
reference in particular to time available for completion of Section Books and preparation for Judging.
Exceptions will also be made in the case of the Ring Events where (with the exception of ‘Local’ events)
entries will be accepted up to such time as the Stewards, in their absolute discretion, deem fit.
8. In all Sections, it is a condition of entry that the Society will not under any circumstances, be held
responsible for any loss, damage, or misdelivery of any livestock or other exhibit or exhibits at the
Society’s Show, or for any accident that may be caused through, or by, any exhibit. The arrangement of
exhibits will be in the sole control of the Stewards. Exhibits entered in the wrong Class by the Exhibitor
may be transferred to the proper Class by the Stewards.
9. The Judges may award Certificates of Commendation in addition to awards mentioned in the Schedule, or
may withhold any Prize if, in their opinion, the exhibit is not of sufficient merit.
10. The decision of the Judge or Judges shall be final.
11. The Committee reserves the right to substitute trophies donated after printing of Schedules.
12. Supplementary Schedules may be issued at the discretion of the Committee.
13. At all times, from the commencement of delivery of exhibits until the opening of the Hall for general
exhibition, the Hall shall be under the control of the stewards therein, who shall have full power to refuse
admittance, or cause expulsion from the Hall, of any person or persons other than those who, in the
opinion of the Stewards have lawful occasion to be in such Hall.
14. The Committee reserves the right to reduce Prize money for any event, or to cancel the event, if in the
opinion of the Committee paucity of entries and/or competitors for such an event does not warrant the
amount of Prize Money awarded.
15. The Committee may refuse any entry without giving reasons for so doing.
16. Any person entering a protest in connection with the Show shall lodge the sum of $20.00 with the
Secretary. The onus of proof shall be with the Lodger of the protest. The Committee shall decide all
protests and their decision shall be final. If in the opinion of the Committee the protest may be frivolous
the deposit shall be forfeited. In the hearing of all protests and disputes arising out of an award, the
Committee shall abide by the Judges books unless it is shown that the Judge has been wilfully or
accidentally mislead. Protests must be in writing and must be lodged with the Secretary before the day of
judging. A protest in any particular class may only be made by a competitor in that class.
17. No exhibit may be removed before 7.00pm on the Monday of the Show without the permission of the
Section Stewards.
18. The Rules and By-Laws first above mentioned and the foregoing Statement of Conditions and the notes
set forth in the Schedule hereafter appearing, are to be the conditions of the Show and of competition
herein. The Committee, whose decision shall be final, shall determine any matter arising, not herein
provided for.
19. ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES: The attention of intending exhibitors is drawn to the fact that entries are
accepted subject to the Rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies and to the Constitution
and Rules of this Society in addition to any special regulations which appear within this Schedule
