BEGINNER TO ADVANCED HORSE ARCHERY PLUS SPECIAL HUNT TRACK TRAINING DAY
About the training
This is an introduction clinic and assumes that you and your horse have never attempted horse archery, although participants with experience will gain a lot from the clinic. Riders who have already learned the basics are also welcome, and will be provided additional tuition in more advanced techniques and continued improvement of the required skill set.
Riders will be instructed in the archery techniques from the ground, including safe carrying of equipment while on horseback, loading of arrows, shooting, targeting and safe retrieval of arrows, introduction of archery equipment to their horses, and basic shooting from the saddle. Most riders spend the duration of their attendance at walk, and there is no obligation to ride faster than you are comfortable and we focus on ensuring that the horses experience a safe and comfortable introduction to horse archery. There will also be discussions regarding competitions, technique equipment selection, further training, and clubs within Australia.
On the Monday 7 September 2026 an additional day is available for those wanting to learn the specialist shots and strategies that accompany completing a hunt track which is a component of horse archery competitions (at walk, trot and canter).
New riders are strongly encouraged to attend both days for the best results. Riders who attend a single day will achieve a basic understanding of the sport and techniques. Riders who have not attended a two day clinic prior are not able to udnertake the Monday hunt track day. Riders who are new but have attended for the weekend can choose to do this day. Riders who have attended a clinic previously may opt for one or two days as suits them, but we do recommend two days wherever possible so we can build on the teachings over multiple sessions.
Tickets are also available for participants in the ground archery session only, and fence sitters. Full event attendees will have a discount applied to their ticketing automatically prior to check out.

About Liberty, Rodney and Jay
Liberty Deaman is one of the highest ranked Australian horse archers and was the highest scoring Australian rider at the 2023 World Championships, held in Mongolia. She is currently the Australian Representative on the International Horse Archery Alliance and has been active in the Australian Horse Archery Association (as a general member and committee member) for the past 5 years. Liberty Captained the 2025 Australian World Championships Horse Archery Team in Tennessee.
Rodney has been the team Coach of the Australian Team at the 2025 World Championships in Tennessee, and Captain at the 2025 Asian Nations Cup in Jakata, the 2023 World Championships in Mongolia, and the 2021 World Grand Prix Team. He is the fourth highest ranked horse archer in Australia and President of the Australian Horse Archery Association and currently standing on the Board of Directors of the International Horse Archery Alliance.
Jay is currently the 6th highest ranked horse archer in Australia and was the official reserve for the 2025 World Championships Team, as well as representing Australia as part of Team Australia at the Asian Nations Cup in 2025. Jay has a Degree in Equine Science and is an acomplished horse trainer as well, specialising in teaching horses self management and regulation which are incredibly helpful skills for horse archery horses.
Equipment requirements
All archery equipment is provided including bow, arrows, targets and arm/hand protection. Riders can ride in their regular tack but must have a monkey strap or similar for the front of the saddle. Bareback riding is not permitted at this event. All riders are required to always wear a suitable helmet to Australian / EA standards when handling horses and riding, and enclosed shoes. Horses can be ridden in a variety of bridles, and bitless riding is permitted. We recommended that shanked bits are not used for this event.
Beginner archery kits will be available for purchase/order during the event. EFTPOS available at the event. Numbers and options may be limited.
Venue Details
This clinic is being held at Emerald Park Equine, Mandalong NSW 2264.
Horse yards are available onsite for $25/night.
Camping is available onsite for $30/person/night - showers, toilets and basic kitchen facilities included (microwave, kettle, fridge).
All riders must pay the mandatory $25 arena hire fee. This will be added automatically to your entry fees at the end.
All attendees are to provide their own food and water. General services, grocery stores, fuel stations, restaurants, take away and fast food options are within a 10 minute drive.

Discounted Tickets
Discounts are applicable for riders or archers, including a discount on horse hire for customers attending two days. Discounts are built into the 2 day prices when selecting classes so no further action is required.
Horse Hire
Limited places will be available for horse hire for this event. Please ensure the attached horse hire form is downloaded and returned no less than 48 hours prior to the event. Failure to do so may result in a cancellation of attendance. No guarantee is provided on horse hire.

Refunds, Scratchings, and Cancellations
Please note refunds can be obtained by using the scratch feature in Nominate up until the event closing date. A scratch fee will apply. Refunds after this date can only be obtained with supporting evidence, please email us if you require a refund after the closing date.
Where you are unable to attend a clinic for some reason after the closing date, but before the extended closing date, we will credit your entry to another clinic. You may also opt for this option prior to the closing date, in which case the scratch fee will not apply.
When a clinic is cancelled due to circumstances outside your control, such as weather, we will either reschedule the clinic to a new date or refund entry fees without the scratch fee applied.
Any cancellations after the extended closing dates for any reasons may not be eligible for a refund or transfer, however please reach out to us by email and we will help you if we are able. Please be aware our costs begin accumulating from the moment a clinc is advertised and the closer to the event date the higher the costs are likely to become. This is the reason for our graduated refund policy. We are a small business only, but we will always make an effort to help you where possible.
