SECTION CONDITIONS:

More enquiries or information in regards to classes can be discussed with the Stewards prior to entry.  All information given will be in conjunction with Rules for Stewards Judges Exhibitors and Competitors of the Fraser Coast Agriculture Show Society Inc. 

  1. Online Entries for 2019 Schedules can now be entered and paid online. An email confirmation will be sent to you.  Exhibits are to be delivered as per Schedule. Prepaid Online Entry Forms must be printed out and a copy submitted to the Woodcraft Pavilion between 12pm and 5pm on Friday 10 May 2019.
  2. Entry forms and payment may be submitted to the Fraser Coast Agriculture Show Office 84 Gympie Road Tinana or mailed to P.O. Box 232 Maryborough Qld 4650.  Alternatively, entries forms and payments can all be presented at the Woodcraft Pavilion between 12pm and 5pm on Friday 10 May 2019, otherwise contact the Chief Steward for other arrangements.
  1. The entire work must have been completed by the entrant in the last twelve months.
  1. Exhibitor number will be allocated on delivery of the exhibit. 
  1. Only one entry per Class per person is permitted. Items eligible for entry in one Class may not be entered in another Class.
  1. Novice Classes are restricted to persons under the age of 16 years, and any person over 16 years who has never won a first prize in any open woodcraft competition or has competed for no more than three years in the Novice Section.
  1. Exhibits must remain on display from 9am until 9pm Friday, 24 May 2019. Entries can be collected between 8am and 9am on Saturday 25 May 2019 or by other arrangement with the Chief Steward.
  1. Classes 1 – 6 are to be hand turned work only and with no embellishments. Any clear finish, any type of wood (embellishment includes: texturing pyrography colouring, carving and ornamental turning, etc).
  1. Entries which have been oiled must have a means provided to attach a sticker or looped tag. 
  1. Items produced on CNC, copying apparatus or other robotic equipment will not be eligible for entry in any class.
  1. Entries may have timber species on the piece but no other identification.
  1. Footprint of an item means it must occupy a square or rectangular area no greater than the nominated size.
  1. All items will be judged in their entirety.  The Judge’s decision is final.

OPEN CLASSES:

  1. A turned natural edge bowl, with or without bark, to 350mm in diameter from a single piece of wood. The edge is either the rim or the outer edge of the bowl. Any clear finish.

27002A turned plate, platter or bowl to 350mm in diameter, machined all over from a single piece            of wood. Any clear finish

  1. A turned weed pot or bud vase to 200mm high, maximum hole size 16mm, from a single piece of wood. Any clear finish.
  1. A turned flower vase, minimum hole size 20mm from a single piece of wood. Any clear finish.
  1. A turned lidded container to 300mm in diameter. Any wood. Threaded lids permitted. Article is to be finished inside and outside. Any clear finish.
  1. A turned pair of matching objects from the same wood type, with identical size and shape. Wood must be the predominant visible material with a clear finish.
  1. An embellished bowl, platter or vase to fit into 350mm x 350mm footprint x 400mm high.  Wood must be the predominant visible material.  Any finish.  (Embellishment includes: texturing, pyrography, colouring, carving, cutting and reassembly and ornamental turning, etc.)
  1. A laminated or segmented item to 350mm x 350mm footprint x 400mm high. Any wood or combination of woods with laminating or segmenting done by the entrant.  Any clear finish.
  1. A scroll sawn item (excluding clocks) to have a maximum footprint 1m x 500mm x 500mm high. Any wood or wood product. Any clear finish.
  1. An intarsia item. To have a maximum footprint 1m x 500mm x 500mm with any wood or wood product backing.  Any finish.
  1. Handcrafted Clock less than 500mm high.  Maximum footprint 500mm x 250mm.  Any finish, excluding coloured paint.
  1. A handcrafted clock to a maximum height of 2.2m.  Maximum footprint 500mm x 500mm.  Case to be of wood or wood product. Any finish, excluding coloured paint.
  1. A miniature that will fit into a space of 50mm x 50mm x 50mm. Wood must be the predominant visible material. Any finish, excluding coloured paint.
  1. A handcrafted item (including toys and models). Maximum footprint 1m x 500mm and maximum height of 500mm.  Wood must be the predominant material.  Any finish including paint.
  1. A box handcrafted from wood. Maximum footprint 1m x 500mm and maximum height of 500mm.  To be mainly of wood, but may incorporate other materials.  Any clear finish.
  1. A single wooden item including furniture, indoor or outdoor. Maximum footprint 1m x 500mm and maximum height of 1.5m.  To be mainly of wood or wood product but may incorporate other materials.  Wood must be the predominant visible material. Any finish, excluding coloured paint.
  1. A handcrafted item (including standard lamps, musical instruments, etc), displaying two distinct forms of woodcraft of your choice. Wood must be the predominant material. Maximum footprint 500mm x 500mm.  Maximum height of 1.5m.  Any finish, excluding coloured paint.
  1. A carved wooden item. Maximum footprint 500mm x 500mm with a maximum height of 1.5m. Any finish.
  1. A single item featuring artistic design crafted using woodworking tools. Maximum footprint 500mm x 500mm.  Maximum height 500mm.  Material is to be mainly a non-metallic medium to suit the design.
  1. Pyrography item executed on a flat piece of wood featuring landscapes, portraits or scenes.  Maximum footprint 500mm x 500mm.  Maximum thickness of 60mm.  Any clear finish.
  1. A pyrography article, other than item 20.  Maximum footprint 1m x 500mm.  Maximum height of 500mm on wood.  Any clear finish. 

NOVICE CLASSES:

  1. A turned item from any wood.  Any clear finish. Maximum diameter 400mm and maximum height 1.5m.
  1. Any other woodwork item. Maximum footprint 1m x 500mm.  Maximum height of 1m.  Item to be mainly of wood, but may incorporate other materials. Wood must be the predominant visible material.  Any finish, excluding coloured paint.     SPECIAL AWARD:
  1. Fraser Coast Agriculture Show Theme: Cane and Cattle.  Maximum footprint 400mm x 400mm. Maximum height of 1m.
