4 PHASES DAY SUNDAY 29th MARCH 2026
Join Sydney Working Equitation (SWEQ) for an exciting day to improve and practice your skills with the Mechanical Cow (Cattle Phase), Dressage Phase, EOH Phase and a Speed Phase. It doesn't matter if you haven't done any mechanical cow, or Working Equitation before or you are experienced. All "on the job" training will be provided and we will match you up with a rider with the same level of experience with the mechanical cow.
Entry fee to the day includes:
1) A one hour lesson with the mechanical cow with Matt Charles from Sliding Lodge Performance Horses. Learn how to work your horse with the mechanical cow (a mechanical cow is a small white flag on a rope that slides side to side). The 1 hour lesson is for 2 riders at a time and Matt will adjust the level according to rider and horse experience. This is a great introduction for those needing to learn cattle work for WEQ or for those who just want to learn a new skill that involves having your horse respond quickly to your aids.
2) Learn to ride 10 and 20m circles in the arena. After you are confortable with arena layout and riding circles you can then practice riding Level 1 Introductory Test 1.1. Dont worry, we will provide a caller and lots of help for you.
3) WEQ obstacle will be set up and ample opportunity to practice each obstacle and ride EOH rounds. Great teaining practice for those who do WEQ and an opportunity to try for those new to WEQ.
4) Speed Phase. Your ride through the pattern will be timed. Speed phase is to test the speed, agility, athleticism of the horse and the balance, aids, and seat of the rider. We will be running through the pattern at the speed which suits each individual rider. This is an optional activity.
