STEA Encouragement Competition – Hunter Trials, 14 September 2024

Hunter Trials are defined as any event which includes a showjumping and x-country phase only. Hunter trials will not include Dressage. Entries do not incur the TEA levy.

Entry is open to ETAS members with a minimum Participant level membership.

Ribbons will be awarded to 4th place. 

Dogs are not permitted on the grounds during the running of this event. 

The Hunter Trials will be run in accordance with the current Eventing Rules effective 1 January 2024 ( Equestrian-Australia-National-Eventing-Rules-CLEAN-effective 1 January 2024_1.pdf ) with the exception of the following adjustments:

• The optimum time for the cross-country test will not be published and riders are not permitted to wear watches.
• Cross Country: Riders may ride past a jump that they do not wish to jump or can ride past a jump at which they have had up to two refusals to continue the course but will incur 120 penalties for doing so. The penalties for the omission of obstacle will be added to the total of the run out, refusal or unauthorised circle penalties if applicable. 
• If a rider is deemed unsafe they may be stopped and required to leave the course.

General Penalties

• Maximum dimensions are described in Table 1. Fences do not need to be built to maximum dimensions and can be significantly lower. However, the maximum dimensions will not be exceeded at either Jumping or Cross Country.

• A competitor eliminated in one phase may compete in further phases. The judge of the phase in which they were eliminated or the clubs organizing committee, or the Technical Delegate retains the discretion to eliminate them from any further participation on the grounds of welfare or safety.
