POKER RUN DETAILS
Aim: The Northern Hunt Club’s 6th annual Poker Run provides a fun opportunity for members and friends to enjoy a relaxed ride with loads of prizes and a bit of a twist, while fundraising to support our hounds. Thank you for supporting the Northern Hunt Club’s 2024 Poker Run.
Date: Sunday 4th August, 2024.
Entries: All entries for riders and to purchase extra non-riding poker hands are here through Nominate. All riders pick up a poker hand on their ride. Both riders and non-riders are welcome to purchase non-riding poker hands for extra chances to win! Entries close 7pm Friday 2nd August.
Start times: Staggered between 9am and 10.30am. Start times will be advised late Friday night after close of entries.
Venue: Junction Farm Equestrian Park (riding school entrance), 38 Westwood Road, Hadspen TAS 7303 (with thanks to the James Family).
Distance & conditions: Approximately 15km across country. Paddocks, farm road (muddy in places), one moderate hill climb and some rocky sections. Ride safely at your own pace and be very respectful if passing other horses.
Dress: EA approved helmet and riding boots compulsory. Casual attire.
Registration: Please register before the ride. Helmets must be presented for checking when you register – it is your responsibility to ensure they conform with EA standards as per the link in the confirmation email.
Collection of Poker Hands: Poker hands will be available for collection at the Port Stop at the furthest point of the ride for all riders. They will be in sealed envelopes and may only be opened by officials at the end of the ride when your hand will be revealed. Poker hands opened early may be disqualified!
Scoring: Officials will rank the poker hands (including those purchased by non-riders). Prizes will be awarded soon after all riders are in. The scoring system has been streamlined this year to make this process much quicker.
Sponsorship & prizes: Our sponsors are at the heart of our event and their generosity and support is crucial to the day’s success. Please ensure you personally thank your sponsor if you are one of the many who will be lucky enough to win a prize. We also welcome new sponsors, please get in touch with a committee member if you’d like to join the fun and contribute.
Catering: $2 a piece sale: Sausage sizzle, cakes and drinks will be available for sale for $2 per item after the ride, so please bring your loose change and tuck in. Donations of cakes and slices appreciated.
