Off the Track WA & EWA Metro Eventing Grand Prix Competition 7th March 2020

Participate in an encouragement Eventing Grand Prix competition composed of a mix of cross country and show jumping fences.

Event: Encouragement Eventing Grand Prix Competition

Venue: Cross Country Course, State Equestrian Centre, Brigadoon, WA

This event is open to any retired racehorse, both Standardbred and Thoroughbred. Including un-raced and un-trialled horses.

The racing name of your horse must be supplied with your entry, if the racing name is not known brands and/or microchip number must be supplied.

The event organiser must be notified of withdrawals prior to the event. No shows may risk having their entry rejected for future off the track events.

 

Conditions of Participation – Off the Track Eventing Grand Prix

  • This event is open to any retired racehorse, both Standardbred and Thoroughbred including un-raced and un-trialled horses. The racing name of your horse must be supplied with your entry, if the racing name is not known brands and/or microchip number must be supplied.
  • Riders are not required to be EWA members but recommended to hold at least recreational membership for personal accident insurance. Clinic participants who are new EWA members are eligible for a discount on membership.   • All competition registrations must be made online at www.nominate.com.au
  • All riders must sign a disclaimer of liability when registering online
  • Riders may register for:
    • a maximum one class per horse per day
    • a maximum of two horses per day
  • Limited positions available at the competition, register early to avoid disappointment.
  • A registration fee $25 per rider is payable at time of entry.
  • Refunds - a full refund will be available until close of nominations. No refunds will be available after close of nominations.
  • Waitlists - Where nominations exceed available class positions a waitlist will be available.
  • No other horses will be permitted on the grounds unless they have are competing
  • Numbers - Horses will be allocated a number for the competition. This is to be worn at all times including when tied to floats/trucks. Bridle numbers will be available to purchase with entries for $8.00
  • Entries must be made online www.nominate.com.au
  • Close of Entries - Entries will close approximately one week prior to the competition or when entries are full
  • Dress standard - white or cream breeches or jodhpurs preferred, sleeved shirt
  • Plaiting is optional
  • Equipment – Equipment is as per the cross country phase of the EA Eventing Rules. Approved helmets, riding boots AND body protector in accordance with the EA Eventing rules must be worn at all times a while riding.
  • Watches of any kind are NOT permitted to be worn by the rider while in the competition arena.
  • Gear check - Competitors will be gear checked prior to competing to ensure all equipment is safe and serviceable
  • Draw - A draw will be emailed to all competitors and published online three days prior to the event
  • Good horsemanship and sportsmanship will be encouraged at all times
  • Prizes and Awards – Presentation of Awards will take place at the conclusion of each height group. Presentations will be unmounted with the winning horse invited to attend.
  • Course Walk - The course will be available for walking prior to each height or from 4:00pm-6:00pm Friday 6th of March.

Course Design
Courses will be approximately 1000m-2000m in length and include up to 20 jumping obstacles, of variable style and technicality.
The course will combine the thrill of cross-country, with the technicality of show jumping. A water obstacle may be included.

After the last fence, there is an option to jump the joker fence, this will be approximately 15cm higher than the rest of the course. If the joker is cleared, 4 penalties will be taken off the total. If this obstacle is lowered, 8 penalties will be added to the final score.

Dimensions
GP45 (45cm): The cross-country fences will be solid fences of up to a maximum height of 0.45cm (fixed) and 0.60m (brush). Show jump fences will be a maximum of 0.45m. Optional joker fence of up to 60cm (show jump fence).

GP65 (65cm): The cross-country fences will be solid fences of up to a maximum height of 65cm (fixed) and 80cm (brush).   Optional joker fence of up to 80cm (show jump fence). 

GP80 (80cm): The cross-country fences will be solid fences of up to a maximum height of 80cm (fixed) and 100cm (brush). Show jump fences will be a maximum of 80cm. Optional joker fence of up to 95cm (show jump fence).

 

Time on course - the optimum time will be worked out at:

  • GP45 - 300 meters per minute
  • GP65 - 325 meters per minute
  • GP80 - 350 meters per minute

 

**Riders are not permitted to wear a timing device ie. Watch while competing **

 

If the joker fence is successfully jumped it will wipe 4 penalties off the rider’s total score.  If the joker fence is knocked down the rider will incur 8 penalties. It will NOT remove time penalties.

 

WINNER: The rider with the least penalties at the end of the competition is the winner.

EQUALITIES OF SCORES: In the case of an equal score the rider with the closest time to optimum time wins. In case of a dispute the Event Organiser will have the final say. 

 

Although this document sets out the detailed rules for Exhibition Eventing, reference should be made to the EA Rules for Eventing, FEI Rules for Eventing and/or all relevant FEI Rule Books for any eventuality not covered in this rule book. In any unforeseen or exceptional circumstances, it is the event organiser’s responsibility to make a decision in a sporting spirit and in accordance with the intention of these rules.

**ANY RIDER WHO FALLS OFF THEIR HORSE AT THIS EVENT MUST BE SEEN BY THE MEDICAL TEAM IMMEDIATELY AND CLEARED TO RIDE FURTHER EVENTS**
